VISION

Our Serge team in Nairobi, Kenya exists to equip, minister, and engage with the local church through soccer-based discipleship, racial reconciliation ministry, and bible storying training. Our hope is to encourage local leaders and cultivate a deeper understanding of the gospel of grace and its implications for all aspects of life.

The ultimate goal is to see the Kenyan church, both corporately and individually, grow in their understanding of the gospel, living a life reflecting those truths in unity amongst believers and reaching out to the lost.

MINISTRY OVERVIEW

The Serge Nairobi team has three main ministries facets, all of which have the ultimate desire to be doing gospel renewal work:

• Reconciliatory work between different people groups and outreach to hard to reach people groups through local church New City Fellowship.
• Using football(soccer) as a tool to equip local coaches, churches and other organizations to reach youth in Kenya, not only improving football skills but to teach character development, job skills and ultimately the good news of Jesus. This is through our partner organization Ambassadors Football Kenya.
• Hosting a 15-month Apprenticeship program (currently for US nationals only) that allows apprentices to engage in the above mentioned local ministries as well as chronological bible storying ministry run by a fellow Serge ministry.

For summer 2019, the team seeks Interns to work with either the Ambassadors Football (soccer) ministry (a background in soccer is preferred) or the Chronological Bible Storying.

All Kenya Interns will:

• Learn how to utilize chronological Bible storying as a means of evangelism
• Study cross-culturally living and specifically Kenyan culture
• Get to know and worship with the body of Christ in another culture
• Spend time with nationals through visiting, working and ministering alongside
• Acquire critical words in a new language
• Spend time with missionaries, getting to know their families and daily lives
• Be mentored using Serge’s Sonship materials
• Engage in local churches
• Visit a national park and other great local sights

Soccer Interns will:

• Learn how to utilize soccer as a ministry tool
• Work alongside Kenyans, coaching, learning, playing, and fellowshipping
• Engage with ongoing Ambassadors ministries such as Prison and Children’s home outreach
• Coach at International kids camp alongside Ambassador’s staff at the end of the summer.

Chronological Bible Storying Interns will:

• Have more extensive training in chronological Bible Storying
• Work with and learn from national pastors, locally and across Kenya using Chronological Bible Storying
